Mike Bhangu's novel War and Religion thoughtfully explores the ties between war and religion. Looking at the three major faiths involving God; Islam, Judaism, and Christianity, Bhangu argues that it is not God himself that is the architect of the mass violence like the crusades, the inquisition or other holy wars that have been fought in the name of religion, but rather the product of the political powers that be, which have shifted and altered the truths of the scriptures. Bhangu's writing style is refreshingly straightforward and easy to read. The book is well organized and makes some really good points. The book is well researched and provides helpful insight into how the faith has been twisted to match certain political goals. This book really makes you think about motivations in general and definitely made me understand some of the horrible things that have happened in the past that were in the name of religion. It's a great book for anyone hoping to get a better idea of what the actual truth of these religions is and what they really teach, vs. how they've been twisted.

Excellent book. It portraits the mind of an advance being living among the one who are slaves of the matrix mechanism that rules and control the consciousness of human being. I am a person in the search of enlightenment. I am still move for the materialism of the world and the hunger for power. Yet, another part of me looks for a truth that will bring me light. Mike Bhangu through this book open the door to a new realm. By reading his book, he instantly became one of my favorite author and I am willing to keep reading more from him. I just bought War 101. Thank you Mike for opening this door to me.

I went into this trilogy with high hopes. The first book had exciting themes and introduced a very interesting overall plot line, jumping between different points in time, leaving you eager to find how things got to where they did. However, far too much time was spent on character development, and going in-depth on details, that were not relevant to the overall plot. I felt that whole chapters were spent telling stories about people and their lives that weren't that interesting and didn't add much to the books. Unfortunately the same was true of books 2 and 3. Overall very interesting ideas, but should have been one book rather than three. The story was worth it for the big ideas, but overall laborious to read.

Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam has been one of my favorite contemporary sci-fi series. The author of the classic A Handmaid's Tale brings her dystopian skills to bear on the twenty first century. While the series emphasizes the dangers of biotechnology and corporatism the last book emphasizes the rise of the military-internet complex. I've found it is a series that goes over well with both sexes, and that this box set makes an excellent gift.

Margaret Atwood is one of my favorite authors, and I really like this trilogy. She writes very well and it's a joy to read her books. On top of this, she writes about provocative and/or timely topics in a thoughtful way. You might not agree with her, but you will think about the things she writes about. Don't plan on speeding through this trilogy, but you will get a lot out of it. I especially recommend The Year of the Flood for people interested in environmental issues, but it will be better if you read Oryx and Crake first.

THESE BOOKS WASTED GOOD PAPER &INK BUT SINCE IT IS WINTER I CAN USE IT TO HELP START MY WOOD FIRE.

This is an amazing trilogy. My first story from Margaret Atwood, and she absolutely blew me out of the water. Couldn't put it down.

Oh my God, yes. Margaret Atwood was just getting started with A Handmaid's Tale. A cautionary tale about what can happen with genetic modification. Chilling.

I adore Margaret Atwood. This series is fantastic! Dystopian future that does not seem at all unrealistic given our current state of environment, food, health, and relationships with one another.

Never thought I'd care for futuristic reading, but Margaret. Attwood changed my mind. A fascinating read.

This is a fun, funny text that helps prepare you for the ACT. Preparing for a huge test is not anybody's idea of a good time, but at least this book demonstrates that the company understands how to make the daunting task a little more enjoyable. It is a thorough survey of all the concepts and tricks a student needs to ace the ACT and move on with the rest of their lives. I highly recommend grabbing this book instead of the "other" ones. I've been sharing it with all my friends and bringing up the ACT on purpose in conversation specifically to make sure they aren't using horrible materials. So don't use horrible materials! I got a 35 on the ACT, so I think I know what I'm talking about! ;)

My son has been using Magoosh online to study for the ACT which has been a really great way for him to study independently. Now with the book, he can get the same thorough breakdown and support, but it's easier for him to study on the go AND he is getting reps in the same format of the actual exam!Plus, as a 17-year-old, he loves all of the brain breaks throughout the book! We're big fans! :)

I recently purchased thus book to use with a student I tutor. She's getting ready for the ACT and has been fairly disinterested in most material I give her. But once I introduced this book, she actually started to complete the homework I assigned from the book. She started to make great progress and we're starting to see an uptick in her practice tests!

This book is definitely different than a lot of the other ones on the market. It covers what you need to know: strategies, practice questions, etc. but it's NOT boring (I loved the brain breaks). The writers definitely seem like they care about students and keeping the test prep experience drama-free and stress-free.

I bought this book for my younger cousin who is just going into high school. He excels in math but he hates sitting down to read anything. When I received it, I skimmed through it to see if it would be a good fit for him, and it's so much different than all the other test prep books I looked at! The tone is like an older brother or sister walking you through the test, and there's even a coloring section!! I'm very excited for Andrei to sit down with it because I know this would've saved me in high school!

I expected ACT strategies and prep tips -- which, yes, it has -- but it also has fun brain breaks, a study schedule (so nice), and other pages dedicated to non-test prep stuff like preparing for college. I'm not ashamed to say that the first thing I completed was the crossword puzzle on page 34.Pros: it reads as if a tutor or friend is teaching you and has a full length practice test.Cons: it's big (see picture) but if you accompany it with the online prep you don't need to lug it around everywhere with you.

I’m giving it a 2 Stars cause it is supposed to prepare students and help them improve their scores and already on the math section of trigonometry and radians we have come to found 3 major mistakes, if the student is doing it on their own most probably won’t notice but as a Math Teacher this is unacceptable. Disappointed.

I like the clear explanations though some of the math is still complicated to me. It feels easy going and relaxed.

There are much better dog experts. Don't expect more advice than you receive on a typical TV episode...ie., next to nothing.

I had adopted a dog with a behavioral issue and was at my wits end trying to find solutions to help the little guy out.I have seen Cesar's show a number of times, and am a fan, but this is not a training book. It is really more of an autobiography. Cesar has really done so much for troubled animals, and it is an interesting read, but I would not purchase this if you re looking to train a puppy or dog. I highly recommend Patricia B McConnell's training books, as well as the one by the monks. Patricia books are soft covered and approximately twenty pages. She has a number of short books that concentrate on specific issues. The monk book is comprehensive. Both are great.

Such an amazing comment by Cesar on the night and day difference he immediately noticed in the way Americans humanize our dogs as opposed to where he grew up in Mexico. I accept what he says about the needs of our beloved dogs that I acknowledge I have not fulfilled by playing in our large suburban yard vs an hour walk daily. There is no legitimate excuse I can give - and this will change tonight.Guilty as charged letting all 4 big dogs jump all over me licking my face when I enter the house after a long day at work, I must permit them to stop and calm themselves before letting my pack greet me. This will be a challenge, I love their raw energy and love after an hour+ in traffic!I learned a lot,there's much I didn't like to hear BUT that's my own fault for humanizing my dogs. I have 3 grown children but I've treated my dogs like a sibling or best friend my entire life. We should always embrace change, especially when it will help our dogs that we love so dearly. Now we'll see if you can teach an old man some new tricks, Cesar.

I am one of Cesar's biggest fans and truly admire the work he does and avails himself to. So when I got my Chi dog, I wanted to read up on how to be the best pet parent to her as I could possibly be, as well as having her co-exist peacefully with the family. I learned a lot about the characteristics of dogs and how they inherently are, and do admit that I fall into the trap of wanting to baby my dog. Being a full time pack leader, for me, is impossible as it would require me to be constantly on alert to alter my behavior, attitudes, moods, actions, etc. to accommodate this way of life. In the end, as my dog is already submissive, I could not live up to what Cesar suggests, but I always recommend the book to others I know who have dogs that seem to rule their life. Thank you Cesar for writing this book and for educating people on this subject. There is a lot to know and understand.

Every dog owner should be required to read this before they can have a dog, as 95% of dog owners know nothing about dog or pack mentality or what dogs want and need. Cesar breaks it down to 3 main needs: Discipline, exercise, and love, in that order. Most dogs (at least in the USA) only get love and are spoiled and fat and frustrated, and in the case of medium or large dogs, often dangerous.Hint: If your dog walks ahead of you on the leash, goes through a doorway before you, or won't come when you call, or is fat and/or always hyper, you are doing it wrong, and you should read this book before something bad happens (like your little rat dog runs up to a pit bull and ends himself).Great book, but unfortunately, too many people anthropomorphize their dogs and treat them like people and will think that Cesar is too mean. IT IS NOT MEAN TO GIVE YOUR DOG DISCIPLINE! They crave and need it, much like children. Be a calm, assertive pack leader or do not own a dog.Dogs also need daily exercise. They have a natural need to migrate. But most dogs are fat like their lazy owners. Dogs are a LOT of work every single day. They are needy creatures who don't understand that you are tired of sick or busy. If you want to be a couch potato and provide no discipline, get a cat.

I finished this book in three days. It is so well-written. It is NOT about how to get your dog to perform tricks, but truly about how to understand "where your dog is coming from". It is so true that we often forget that our dogs are animals first. We do humanize them and use them for substitutes in our lives for whatever it is that we are missing. This is not only the best dog book I've ever read, but also a great book in general. Really well written, really profound, grounded in common sense. For those that think his method may be cruel, I think it's mainly because you are putting your human feelings ahead of your dog's animal understanding. Although my dog was a never a "problematic" dog, she is a powerful breed (boxer) and had certain thing about her that would irk me (like whining and sitting on furniture when I'm not around). In the middle of reading this book, I thought, hey, let me give it a try. Being calm-assertive instead of treating her for performing commands. Wow, what a difference. I could tell right away that she naturally wanted to respect my boundaries. She was quick to learn, quick to respond, and quick to respect. The respect aspect of it was the most key and important. I could tell that she was not going to "do her own thing" when my back was turned. Sure, if I was in the room, she'd stay off the couch, but before, I'd come home to dog hair on the seat. Now, I know that when I leave the room, she'll stay off the couch. She understands my boundaries for her. She respects my boundaries for her, because she now recognizes and respects my consistent leadership.THe personal anecdotes and Cesar's story of his childhood and how he came to America only added richness to this book. I loved it. Like I said, this isn't a "how-to" manual for teaching your dog to "sit, stay, heel". There are classes and other books for that. THis book is truly about understanding your dog's needs and wants. Understanding your relationship with you dog and the role you must provide in order to maintain a stable and happy home. Many of the things he writes about is not only applicable to dogs, but also in our relationships as well. How we raise and interact with our children, with how we lead teams, and who we are. I too am a believer in keeping ourselves grounded and balanced and in the energy and balance that we have within ourselves and put out into the world. Balance is so key and important for mental and physical health. I could go on, but truly, what a fantastic book.
