I am Air Force Technical writer by profession and I can testify that this book is very well written and is loaded with detailed illustrations. Also, if you have any questions Mr. Norm Tucker will be more than happy to help you. If you follow his instructions and the get the recommended material your Powerhammer will work properly and will last you a lifetime.

Bought this for my dad hubby and son, all dabbling in my father’s old career as a blacksmith, now that he’s retired. They plan to rally in the spring when the weather breaks and build some form of this trip hammer in our tool shop. Hope this aids my ol’ dad and his tired hands, and my son who’s still gaining hammer endurance.

About the Author

Michael B. Bakan is Professor of Ethnomusicology and Head of Ethnomusicology/World Music in the College of Music at Florida State University, where he also directs the university’s Balinese gamelan ensemble and the Music-Play Project, a program for children on the autism spectrum and their families. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including two Florida State University Undergraduate Teaching Awards (1998, 2010). His first book, Music of Death and New Creation: Experiences in the World of Balinese Gamelan Beleganjur (University of Chicago Press, 1999), was selected to the Choice Outstanding Academic Titles list for the year 2000 and was recognized as one of the two “most significant publications on Balinese music in almost half a century” in The Times (London). The first edition of World Music: Traditions and Transformations (McGraw-Hill, 2007) has been adopted at more than 100 universities and colleges worldwide. Bakan’s many other publications encompass topics ranging from Indonesian music and world percussion to electronic music technology, early jazz history, film music, multicultural music education, and the ethnomusicology of autism. He is also the series editor of the Routledge Focus on World Music Series. As a percussionist, Bakan has performed with many renowned world music, jazz, and Western classical music artists and ensembles, including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Music at Marlboro Festival Orchestra, John Cage, A. J. Racy, Phil Nimmons, I Ketut Sukarata, and the championship beleganjur groups of Batur Tengah and Tatasan Kaja in Bali, Indonesia. He is also an active composer, with traditional and experimental works for Balinese gamelan, world music/jazz fusion pieces, film scores, and modern dance compositions to his credit. Bakan has been a visiting professor or invited lecturer at numerous institutions, including Harvard, Yale, Indiana, and Boston universities; the universities of Chicago, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, and Washington; and the Berklee College of Music. He previously served as president of the Society for Ethnomusicology’s Southeast/Caribbean Chapter. He and his family live in Tallahassee, Florida.

Bakan starts this intriguing book with a quote from Freud "Everything new must have its roots in what was before." So what were the roots for Freud's revolutionary ideas?Bakan presents an excellent argument that either consciously or unconsciously, Freud drew on the mystical Jewish tradition in formulating psychoanalysis. His preface to the New Edition adds additional information that was not available to him when he wrote the original in 1958, and is well worth reading.Aside from its insights into psychoanalysis, this book provides a valuable history of Jewish mysticism, including some surprising detours. It also educated me on turn-of-the-century Vienna's virulent anti-Semitic environment -- something of which I had not been fully aware.As with Richard Noll's "Aryan Christ: The Secret Life of Carl Jung" (also reviewed by me), it provides some unusual viewpoints on the psychoanalytic revolution and is well worth reading.

Well... I'm using this CD set for my UC class, "World Musics". Honestly, entering into this class as a C-pop/J-pop/K-pop fan and a huge dislike for any and all classical style music, I was sure this class would be boring. But as it turns out, the music choices so far (I've only seen CD tracks 1 and 2, not 3 and 4 yet) aren't so bland and boring. I've found quite a few songs in the playlist that I can say aren't making me fall asleep. Dont get me wrong though, its not like I've found my new favorite song, that will always be C,J or K-pop.All in all, not too boring. Keeps you interested and is perfect for the course.

Sorry I couldn't resist with the title. I hightly recommend this book, I found it fascinating, but then the history and ideas are new to me. Maybe someone who is more familiar with Freud, Kabbalah or related subjects would be less impressed. See below review. The writing is clear and to the point, not weighted down with too much verbage, and unnecessary academic-speak.

Book arrived in extremely poor condition and was not described as such in the listing.

This was a required book for a class that I took. I liked that all the terms weren't overwhelming as some texts can be. My teacher knows the author and seemed to have respect for him (obviously or she wouldn't have used the book!!) He described things well because he had actually studied all the music that he wrote about.Great book even if you want a quick guide to world music.

This is supposed to be a 4 disk set. I received my rental in the mail and the package is held together with scotch tape. Not that huge of a deal. But it is missing disk #4. I paid $44 to rent the set for one quarter and its missing a disk. Really.

I have the paperback 'Apostasy from the Gospel', Abridged and made easy to read by R.J.K. Law. A Puritan Paperback book - John Owen. When I purchased and downloaded this book, I expected the kindle version of the paperback or even the longer version. What I received, in the kindle version of the book, was a long narrative titled 'to the reader' and a listing of the chapters from the book itself but no narrative. The narrative 'To the Reader' is not listed or shown in Law's abridged version. I am really looking for the 'Puritan Paperback' "Apostasy from the Gospel" and this version was a waste of $2.99 to Amazon. To their credit, they did list that the book was only 26 pages, but threw me off when they went on to say "This Classic Puritan meditation on Hebrews 6:4-6 contains the following chapters and it list all of them including 'To the Reader'. Expecting to read the other chapters, all I received was their titles.I would not recommend this kindle download if you are looking to read John Owen's "Apostasy from the Gospel" in any form.

Love the book. It gave me a lot of information.

This and "the Holy Spirit" by Owen are two of the best books ever.

Full of Scripture references and important definitions with distinctives allows this composition to be a crucial read in a church age when warnings and admonitions are tossed away as "legalism" or "just being too hard and lacking grace".Owen's long first chapter, "The Nature And Causes Of Apostasy", reveals four great privileges that do not accompany salvation (Heb. 6:4-6): 1) spiritual illumination; 2) tasting the heavenly gift; 3) partakers of the Holy Spirit; 4) and tasting the good Word of God. This section reveals the important distinctions between the sincere/insincere (read William Gurnall, The Christian In Complete Armor - Book 2). The author (Owen) cogently states, "Many are partakers of Him in spiritual gifts who are never partakers of Him in His saving graces." The falling away refers to a persistent rebellion and disobedience to God and His Word, declares the author.Owen further states that people have difficulties with the Gospel and even forsake it, because of a "rooted enmity in our minds to all spiritual things." (Rom. 8:7). Therefore, when evangelical truths are in Owen's words, "...pressed against the consciences of men...," this enmity rises in our hearts in rebellion and rejection against such truth.The aim of Biblical truth is to get the eyes of men off of themselves and their own righteousness, "for present peace and future glory." As eyes are trained on Christ and His righteousness, corrupt minds are renewed, "wills and desires of sinful men into the image and likeness of God." The practice of such empowers a life to wholehearted and holy obedience to God.The beckoning call to mankind of these truths is to renounce (2 Cor. 4:2):a) faith in our selves;b) our own self sufficiency;c) our self determination;d) our own self righteousness.When these dimensions are aroused by truth that "old enmity lurking in our hearts is immediately aroused like some venomous snake ready to strike at the whole Gospel" - therefore spiritual truths received only by the mind are first neglected and finally forsaken.As Owen closes this segment, he asserts that the danger of apostasy (falling away from the faith - not finishing the race) is always present; unless this enmity and love is for it is rooted out of our hearts. What can I say? It’s another Drizzt novel so of course it’s gonna be packed with action and adventure. This book reintroduces the Drow(dark elves) back into the mix after Drizzt and his companions go through their journey from Icewind Dale, all the way down to Mithral Hall and establish they home there. Drizzt is of course faced with difficult decisions and tested relentlessly by arch nemesis and some unexpected family. All and all it’s a fun book and really delivers the action in this one.

This is not my first time reading the Drizzt series but the adventures of the drow elf and his companions has enraptured me since I was a young man. I have read this series many times over my 2 1/2 decades of life and I never tire of the story itself. It is so masterfully written that I can actually see this book playing out in my head as if on a television screen and I get so caught up in the battles that to this day I still cheer out loud when Artemis is foiled again or one of the gang puts down a ferocious monster... If I had to recommend any series in my life it would be this one as not only is it a great story it is also a very creative way of teaching Honor, Integrity, Strength and the belief that anything is possible if you have the heart to go for it.

The Legacy marks Drizzt's return to the underworld and recontact with the Drow. There is a great deal of fighting and maneuvering in the tunnels and caverns between Mithral Hall and Menzoberranzan and the book winds up 2 or 3 of the threads in the plot that have been developed so far.

Is the barbarian at such an early age actually lost to the Companions of the Hall & is Ontari finally dead? Can Regis finally rest knowing that he has at long last seen the last of him. What lies in their future. Will Drizzt finally win Catti-Bri's love?

Excellent Fantasy Novel (Excellent Series! One of the best!). Good for all ages. The adult content is there, but in a respectful way that would be mostly unnoticed by children unless they had the imagination to fill in the gaps already. The action is excellent. The story and characters are deep. The lessons are spectacular. Just great.The Legend of Drizzt Books I through VI are obviously finding their rythm, but VII and beyond are great. Especially VII (The Legacy).

Being the seventh book in the series I was not expecting as many earth shattering moments as I found in this one. There is a pace that develops in a series where you know the main heroes will face danger but will some how make it through relatively unscathed in the end. R. A. Salvatore reveals that is not the case for Drittz and his friends that every dangerous turn they face could be their last.

Thanks to my friend Sammy from a long time ago when I was in high school for giving me this book series to read. I hated reading because it always reminded me of school, but this book series really captured my attention and the possibility of imagination. I was so enamored by this series that I bought the entire collection at the time it was only like 12 books and read them continuously until the next book came out. I had to have read these at least 5 times already, but since the story is so good and the series is so long that by the time I get to reading the first book again it almost seems new to me, or at the very least watching an old favorite movie in my mind.

Like always, Salvatore delivers another great tale, this one a little darker than previous ones. There is a huge surprise in the book that I did not see coming, and expertly sets up some really amazing character development for future books.
