D. Gary Young has so much knowledge about plants, the human body and how these two talk to each other. Gary is the first to re-introduce essential oils back into the United States and has the largest farm in North America that grows and distills plants which enhance the human immune system void of harmful side effects. His company is on the cutting edge of health-caring and educating for the individual who chooses to take responsibility for their health and their family's. This book was published in 1996 so it's some of Gary's older workings. He talks about aromatherapy in a therapuetic oil vs. the perfume industry standard oil along with how he distills oils and incoporates them into all his company products. This to me is an early version of the Essential Oil Desk reference. Great book to have in your library.

I would recommend this book to all those who are in the process of getting a Master's or Doctorate in Organizational psychology. I would also recommend this book to all who are looking to or currently are consultants. This book in a highly technical but readable manner explains how to help as a consultant. It gives excellent exercises to do after the chapter to sharpen your knowledge of the chapter. This an all around excellent book.

Ed Schein's book gives a very nice and easy to understand intro to Process consultation. It should be read by more consultants out there. I found his formulations simple and easy to understand and easily recognizable. I have sometimes wondered why I do the things I do in a certain matter - now I understand it better thanks to this book. It was a confirmation for me that what I do and how I do it is "OK" and I can carry on doing it. The book also gives insights into ways of experimenting with your style. Towards the middle section I found the book to be somewhat (over) detailed but for many readers this might be the right thing.

this is a great book one looking at and understanding interpersonal and intra-psychological phenomena in teams and what to do about them to help the group be more effective.

Not much information per park, and nothing that can not be found in more comprehensive data on the web or google. I purchased it to put in the RV for reference but sent it back after taking a look. I have been to over 70 National parks and monuments, and the information is spotty at best. Plus it will get outdated quickly. A digital format would eventually be better, with web links. Guess paper products are going the way of the dinosaur! Also, be careful because restocking fees on these products are getting ridiculous. I probably will not order anything like this from Amazon in the future. Got really burned on the Good Sam Guide when I sent it back. 40% restocking fee!

I thought that it would be more in depth. Further research for specific national Parks will be necessary. It is a generalization of what is available.

The maps were not correct and did not match the text. It was not worth it, there is more information on the internet for free and the size of the book could be smaller for convenience.

Appreciated the detail about each national park with info on which campsites take reservations and which ones not. It made it so much easier and not waste time on those which do not take reservations.

Great for trip planning. Not fancy. No color pictures. JUST good information. Able to see what's close to your planned route. Then go to the parks website and get more detail.

Ballroom Dance fan or not, this is a great read. Comedic in parts, it was also filled with the pathos and complexity of real life. Even though my dancing experience is almost nil, I enjoyed and easily followed the adventures of the two main characters: one woman just entering the dance world, and the other a veteran of that world. The author brought the NYC setting to impressive life, including its ethnic roots. Love in many forms - whether it involved parents and children, romantic lovers and friends, rivals and competitors - were explored in exquisite detail. Meanwhile the story pace was fast, and kept me turning the pages well into the night. The author, Erin Bomboy, is a wonderful talent. Her descriptions were especially on pointe (yes, pun but true.) The dialogue reflected the background and experiences of every character, male and female alike. Reading this book was like watching a movie in my mind, a wonderful movie in all its technicolor glory. I like independently published books because I dislike the cookie-cutter plots that are so prevalent in regular publishing today. My faith in the Independents is absolutely confirmed and even surpassed by the quality of this book. Thank you, Erin Bomboy. The writing and presentation of THE WINNER blew me away. It deserves to be a NYT best-seller.

Poignant. Real. Beautiful. This is my second book by Erin Bomboy and I continue to be blown away by how much power she can get into a word, sentence, scene. I’ve been pulled through a full range of emotions- again.For me this wasn’t so much about the dancing as it was the dancers. That said, the attention to detail allowed me to be there in the lessons, and on the dance floor. There are two narratives in this book, Cary and Nina, both of whom I felt a deep connection with.As the story progressed and I realized that one would win and one would lose, I knew that no matter what, I would celebrate the victory and mourn the loss, because I was so torn between them. What would they do win? How far would they go for a dream? They both had such strong reasons, though one might have been noble (Mostly) and the other not so much, I didn’t judge them. I loved them. I forgave all flaws in motivations because these women were real and acted from the soul.The men! Wow, I don’t want to give away anything in this regard, but I wanted to deck them for Nina and Carly, several of them, most of them. Even the ones I adored to start with. The twists and the end just left me breathless. The whole thing left me breathless. I was literally up past four in the morning because I had to read just one more chapter… one more… one more… until the end.Bravo. Erin, this is a winner. Your readers are the winners. Thank you.

A very well written novel. The story is unconventional and not your typical predictable love story. The author has a way of making you feel the characters' pain, joy and dilemma - just like real life except this happens on the dance floor. Although I know zilch about dancing I found this book enjoyable and easy to follow. In fact I learned quite a few things about dancing from this book. I finished reading it in 2 days because I just couldn't wait to find out how it ends for Nina and Carly. This novel shows sometimes in life we've to lose some before we can win or rather find ourselves - how true.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Couldn't put it down wondering what would happen next. As a ballroom competitor, makes you think about all you sacrifice in the quest to be a champion. Well written; makes you visualize the couples in action.

Although the book is quite lengthy, it moves quickly. The short chapters and alternating character views give it a driving pace. I soon found myself absorbed into an alternative world of dramatic dancing, fierce competition, and sometimes sinister relationships.

I also happen to be in the middle of a big life transition, and the concept of "going scared" has even more than usual relevance.I expected Imperfect Courage to tick all of these boxes for me. I love a book with depth, that covers multiple areas and that’s not just exclusive to one type of person or just a specific season in your life, etc. This book is not just about the story of Noonday Collection although the mission and what this company is accomplishing still blows my mind and I am so blessed to be an Ambassador.Maybe you just need a cheerleader, a girlfriend cheering you on from the sidelines telling you to keep going, yelling at you that you’ve got this and that your dream is worth it to keep pushing through, that is what Jessica does for you in this book. It’s a reminder of the amazing tribe that women can be for each other.This book speaks to me in many areas as a woman, a wife, a mom, a friend, an entrepreneur, someone who has a heart for adoption (even if you aren’t an adoptive parent, which I’m not, it’s just not something we have been called to but I admire and support all that families that are stepping up to do it). Someone whose heart is stirred for social and global justice, wondering how we can partner with and empower our brothers and sisters across the globe. You name it, it’s for you! Imperfect Courage is a great read and one that I have marked up and will definitely go back to for more 👏

I joke that collaboration is my love language, but I think it might be Jessica's, too. I love that she devotes an entire chapter to going together instead of alone. I'm encouraged by the reality of what can happen when we link arms with other women, celebrating each other's successes and recognizing that "her success doesn't diminish mine." Archival information, added to memoirs and other sources produced, in the hands of Radzinsky and Montefiore, intriguing and compelling images.Oleg Khlevniuk has written a book, not about Soviet history, but about Stalin. Here is the man as he saw himself, as others saw him, and as he interacted with others. Solidly based on primary sources, using notes, agendas, memoirs, writings in Stalin’s hand, and other such materials made during the events, Khlevniuk draws an image of Stalin that reveals itself as the pages pass. Each section, chronologically presented, picks up themes from the death scene. This allows Khlevniuk to balance both chronological integrity and topical treatments in a skillful narrative. Moreover, Khlevniuk presents his materials in a way that allows the reader to see how different interpretations can apply to the same event.This is a very good read and an important book on Stalin.

Not your standard chronological order biography, the author has chosen to present the life of Stalin using two parallel narrative tracks. At first glance this may seem like an odd approach, but it works, and it breaks the monotony of a strictly chronological approach. Having tried to plow through Radinsky's tedious and erratic biographies of Josef Stalin, I was hoping for something better. This book delivers that and more. A very enjoyable, if depressing, look at the life of a sociopath dictator.

I did not know much about Stalin before reading this well put together biography. The book is ordered and written in such a way that one can read from beginning to end straight through or start from any chapter. The author states his desire to present the biography as a "Russian nesting doll," and he does just that. I now have a better understanding of the life of Stalin as well as the lives of the Russian people during the Stalinist era.

Evil is endlessly fascinating. Explaining and contextualizing it preoccupies legions of theologians and historians. Two of the worst of the bad bunch inflicted themselves on millions of hapless people in the near-term past: Hitler and Stalin. Historical novels convey some useful impressions, but the fictionalized aspects tend to be judgemental or sensational or simple fantasy. The real beauty of Khlevniuk's work is its brevity. As the author acknowledges in the informative introductory section, many editorial decisions were required on what to include, what to omit and how much detail to provide. He seems to have found the perfect balance.The author employs an interesting structure, using the framework of Stalin's death in 1953 as the touch-point for the narrative. Stalin's life and career unfold in detail but Khlevniuk avoids the pitfall of psychological analysis ("Why did Stalin turn out that way?") because that crucial question can never really be answered any more than a categorical explanation of "Why did Hitler turn out that way?" can be found. There were certain influences and contemporary events for context, but there were others in similar circumstances that didn't "turn out that way", too.Stalin's legacy is thoroughly polluted by his crimes, but what of his accomplishments? He did rocket the near-feudal Russia of the tsars into the ranks of advanced industrialized countries in a very short time span. He created one of the most sophisticated and accomplished militaries in the world and expanded the Empire to cover a significant part of Europe and Asia. His ideology attracted sympathizers worldwide. He beat the Nazi war machine into dust. However, the accompanying crimes, the needless and grotesque waste of human lives and profligate squandering of resources coupled with the totalitarian police state he helmed tarnish all these accomplishments, as Khlevniuk carefully documents.One cannot detract from Stalin's brilliance as a dictator. He eliminated all rivals (real and imagined) and cemented his hold to the point where even his most trusted acolytes cowered at his death bed. More dubious were his skills as a military leader. Initially, Stalin handicapped the Red Army by destroying its founder (Trotsky), decapitating its leadership, decimating its ranks of experienced soldiers and ignoring capable professional advice. Thus, the debacle of the Nazi invasion was amplified by his incompetence (previously demonstrated during the Civil War), his arrogance and his loss of equilibrium in face of the Wehrmacht onslaught added to the disaster. Yet, as the war progressed, the soon-to-be Marshal of the Soviet Union gained confidence, experience and understanding...though he did not let up on his murderous proclivities visited on his own people: internal exile, deportations, arrests for captured soldiers, death for those who retreated and so on.As to Stalin's legacy, it's not a good one for his comrades (only Kaganovitch lived to see the near demise of the Bolshevik enterprise), his people or the subjugated nations . Maybe, like Mao, techniques like those used in Russia were needed to create the modern USSR. Maybe not, but this book helps the open-minded reader with the knowledge and context needed to establish his/her own judgement on the matter. Koba (as he was known to his closest comrades) remained King until the end. This is the "Goldilocks" of biographies: not too long, not too short...just right! I doubt there is a better balanced and more trenchantly presented biography of Comrade Marshal Stalin than this one.

Excellent book with the right balance of detail and interesting pace. Also just enough on his early life to help understand his actions but not too much. Good book to give some perspective on what Russians have experienced in recent past.

Bought this for my niece who loves history for Christmas and she was excited. She loves to learn new things. I asked her about the book and how she was liking it and she said it was good so far very interesting.

Worthy addition to your library if you collect works on Stalin and the Russian Revolution.Interweaves a a more personal Stalin narrative with the usual historical biographical structure.
