I felt like I was on the trail with Mark. I could see the trail as he told the story and could hear the runners on the snow and feel the dogs energy.The trust, caring, understanding and love that Mark had for the well being of the dogs really came through.Even though I have been a member of the ITC since 1988, I learned a lot through Marks story. Very well written and I was taken from Anchorage to Nome in fine style. Hike!

I don't know your son at all, but I really enjoyed this interesting and informative account of his two Iditarods. His style is conversational and easy-going, with an eye for humor, and he has a knack for providing the kind of details that give armchair readers a real feel for what it must be like to run this grueling and exhilarating race. The pages flew by, and I ended this compact and and enjoyable book knowing much more about the sleds, the dogs and the trail, and thinking that Mark Chapoton would be a nice guy to know.

I would say that it is false advertising. Ms. Fleming promised to address slow talkers and what could be done. However, she did not address it. At all. Nothing.I actually asked her why this was, via her website, and she IGNORED my question (3 weeks with no response; safe to say that she ignored the question).

Life changing! As a member of senior management I am always looking for ways to improve my leadership style. I believe I am taking a holistic approach by venturing out beyond just the typical leadership literature. I have read several books including Peter Drucker, Robert Green, Malcolm Gladwell, Dale Carnegie, John Maxwel, Kerry Patterson and others new and classical. Although the works of all these great authors continue to refine my perspective, two books had the greatest impact on my life. Dale Carnegies "How to win friends and influence people" and Dr. Carol Flemings "It's the way you say it". Not everything in this book was for me, I don't stutter, I already have good posture and I'm not shy, but what I thought didn't apply to me made me aware that it is an issue for other people and helped me develop a sense of compassion and understanding that makes me more aware in my interactions. In my quest for the latest in advanced leadership strategy and communication Dr. Flemings book shifted my focus to the fundamentals. With all the research and technology available it's easy to get away from attention to detail in basic human interaction. I have always believed that strong fundamentals are the basis for mastery in any skill. I highly recommend this book.

I am so lucky to come across this book. I used to be a person that stayed along in any kind of events; I didn’t know how to start conversation, and didn’t know what to expect from a smalltalk, which I didn’t even know was called “smalltalk.”This book is full of concrete case studies on communication. I learned how to get the ball rolling on start, how to proceed with a bridge and get meaningful conversation going.This has changed my lifestyle too. I find I become outgoing. I am willing to talk to anyone whom I think he/she is willing to have a quick smalltalk at anywhere, and yes, of course, just like any smalltalk, with a reasonable expectation of the depth of topics.Strongly recommended.

Like someone else pointed out, it reads like a brochure. If that were the only problem, I wouldn't have given it a single star.. but I wish I had taken other honest reviews seriously (Perhaps this would have been useful for someone who is not a native English speaker, though.) The author uses case studies and anecdotes a bit too often, almost to try and legitimize and prove herself, rather than just laying out an efficient and useful procedure to become a better speaker/conversationalist/etc. To summarize the books strategy, you basicicaly record yourself and compare the melody of your voice to those of prominent individuals. Oh, and do this using your favorite poems. Why? Because so and so did it and after x y and z amount of weeks, there was a drastic improvement in his or her life. Person B did not do so, and I 'could not assure B's employer' to keep them employed. You get the idea.

As English as my second language. Carol explains the different situations that could be affecting you as a person in a simple way. Using real life experiences cases that makes the problem whatever it could be not an impossible one to resolve. She is clear from the beginning that it takes work. She doesn’t try to sell you something that is magical, but if you work hard Carol is providing you the tools to attain your goals.

Good information but the book was not what I expected. I was hoping for coaching on being more crisp when speaking in the corporate environment.

this book is perfect, I downloaded on my kindle and also purchase and hard copy for a friend in another country. I am expectually fond of chapter 4 and 5, I will re-read this book again.

Enjoyed the first few chapters but found it becoming repetitive as I read on.

For this price, I was shocked at the quality of this planner. The cover is smooth and thick and the paper weight is really good. You can use highlighters, markers and pens without it bleeding through or smearing. I color code things, so this was very helpful. I love the notes section on each page. I find it helpful for general reminders such as when the car is due for oil change or my registration renewal is due ECT.... I have had planners that cost $20-$40 over the years and not be as good as this. I can't believe this was under $10! My kids can even write their own reminders such as birthday parties and deadlines for activities in the planner, this way their is no argument about whether they told me or not about something because it's big enough for everyone to write in. It's also easy to take with me in the car. A little big for my purse but sturdy enough to be tucked inbetween the console of the car or tossed in passenger seat as I'm out and about. Really can not stress the quality enough. I love this!

This planner is great for being under $12!The monthly planner is large and has not only regular/federal holidays, but also marks fun holidays like "root beer float day"The weekly planner is also large and gives enough space to write down appointments and notes.One down side is that I wish the pages were a little thicker or were a different type of paper, but for a planner that is under $12, I'm not going to complain!There is also an email listed inside the cover that says they will send you something if you email them. I emailed them and they sent me a free weekly meal plan print out. I'm not sure if I'll actually use it, but it's nice to have.

Love this planner. It has large spaces for your day that are lined so you are able to write straight, as with other planner there is just a large space no lines....basically the lines keep everything straight and in the proper day intended. The pages are like a coloring book so they take ink well, not so much pencil unless your pencil is sharp but eventually it will rub off, but I don't use pencil so it is perfect for me. The colors are as shown and it is slim enough to carry in a large purse and fits in back pack without taking up too much room.

This planner is a great value for the cost. It is large, so there is real space to write clearly even a long & detailed list of things to do. I'm sure it will show wear as the year goes on, but the quality of the binding is much better than I expected for the price. The layout is so practical giving a list collum each day and also a lined notes section. I had never seen a planner this large, or layed out quite like that, but it is exactly as my ideal planner would be. I purchased this for planning my homeschool tasks for each day and recording what we did each day. This is perfect for that. I also love the print on it. I am well satisfied and hope that Pretty Dimple Planners continues making these for many years!!!

I love Pretty Simple Planners. This is my second one and I recommend them to everyone. I like to color coordinate the different activities I have going on in my life (i.e pink for college related deadlines, green for work, black for fun things, etc.) and the Pretty Simple Planner allows me to do that in a neat, simple way! Since everything is black and white, the color adds some fun and it also allows me to more clearly focus and see what's going on each month, week, or day.

I have to have a planner with the month and week. This planner is a great size! Since I have to take it everywhere, I love that it is not too bulky and heavy! The monthly layout is perfect for all my appointments, trainings, and meetings. I also loved the floral, stylish cover. With the weekly layout, I use color coding and color the circles to the type of event and then transfer it to the monthly in the same color. :) The paper quality is also good, not like some inexpensive planners that have thin tissue paper. It also has a great price for my student budget!! I am able to open it fully and use it like a desk planner where I am interning. It keeps me totally organized!! :) They have very friendly customer service people too. I emailed them and got a free meal planner. :)

About the Author

Rien Fertel is a Louisiana-born and based writer, historian, and teacher. He grew up in his family’s chain of restaurants across the country, and, after graduating from college, ran a grocery-deli in downtown New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina exiled him to New York, where he started writing about food. His work has appeared in Oxford American, Garden & Gun, Southern Living, Spirit, Saveur, The Local Palate, and many other publications. He holds a PhD in History, teaches in New Orleans, and divides his time between the banks of the Mississippi River and a 100-plus year old church in St. Martinville, Louisiana.

A very solid, well written book. If you are into the "topic" of BBQ, a must read. Have already made a pilgrimage based on one of the stories within the book. Gets behind the restaurant (public) portion of each location and brings to life the real story (sometimes good, bad or ugly). Good balance of history, current status and story telling. Only critique(s) is that it can be a little hard to follow at times and is somewhat Messianic in approach (but given the topic, largely forgiven)!!

I really enjoyed this book. I come from a barbecue cooking family and this tells it like it is...very hard work...very satisfying result. The author did a great job of really covering the topic. To read this you MUST be really interested in the topic.

The maps here are beautifully done. I was sold on previous reviews- but I ended up returning this and going with the other very popular atlas -Delorme Here’s why:- the scale on the Delorme is smaller- meaning a square inch of this map covers more actual area than the Delorme. This means the Delorme can provide greater detail.- possibly rated to the scale issue or perhaps a cartographic design choice, small forest roads are very difficult to identify and follow in this atlas. This is precisely why I want a detailed atlas- to navigate extremely rural areas with possibly no cell coverage.So, with the smallest of roads easy to spot, more of them labeled, and a more user-friendly scale for this application, I kept the Delorme and returned this item.

Meh. Bought to replace an old one whose cover was falling off, but also wanted to see updates. Compared it to my older version (2011 I think), and found no significant difference. I was hoping to see a lot of updated back roads in my area, but it all looked pretty much the same. Looked at other areas too just to see, and the two versions were practically identical. I wound up returning it and just putting the old one back together with duct tape. I’d rather put that money toward some more detailed maps of specific areas I’m interested in.

We do a lot of dual sport riding and this map is great for the back roads shows quite a few of the dirt & gravel roads although not all of them so pay attention to road names and distances

This is my fifth benchmark atlas. Love the maps. Wish the binding was better. The cover comes off pretty quickly after one or two road trips. Still usable but disappointing

I had trouble believing in the whole situation. There was a lot of traveling distances, like across the channel or back, to Germany and back, and forth from the city to country, for very little reason. There was too much coincidence that the right person was always there to give a small piece of help. Plus the fact that Olivia was doing all this on her own with no backup and training is not believable. I don't get a sense of the time period or place that these events are happening in either. Everything is too comfortable, easy and cliche instead of England during, after and before the wars. The plot was pretty well developed but I'm not sure the ending was the ending. In fact, writing this review, I have trouble recalling details. It was an OK read but not really memorable.

XXX has decided to read her father the riot act for telling for announcing her upcoming marriage to Adam—who is much absent working for the army. But when she arrives at her father’s house, she finds him kneeling on the floor next to a body; the body of one of his best friends who died in a boating accident two years prior. This surprise is followed by the arrival of police and British intelligence. With the support of her newspaper, she takes leave in order to pursue the real murderer. This leads her, oddly, to a German assassin whom she had foiled earlier. This novel is very enjoyable: the characters are mostly believable, the setting is interesting, and the action riveting. Excellent book for a quiet afternoon.

Olivia continues to come into her own in an England poised on the brink of war. Clever plot and pacing. I look forward to her next adventure.
